This 850-page translation of the Mahabharata is among the best. Both the Mahabharata and Ramayana have left an indelible imprint on Hindu religion and society. The Mahabharata is an epic which describes the war between the Pandavas and Kauravas. That said, there’s nothing important in spirituality that has been excluded from the Mahabharata. As K. M. Munshi wrote:
The Mahabharata is not a mere epic; it is a romance, telling the tale of heroic men and women and of some who were divine; it is a whole literature in itself, containing a code of life, a philosophy of social and ethical relations, and speculative thought on human problems that is hard to rival; but, above all, it has for its core the Gita, which is … the noblest of scriptures and the grandest of sagas.
Beautifully written, when the book comes to a close you feel like you should begin all over again.
