Twelve Sacred Voices from the East and West
In both Eastern and Western spiritual traditions, it is believed that certain mystics and saints receive a gift from God that make them poetic conduits of the divine, bearers of “love poems from God.” Twelve spiritual writers are included here: six are from the East and six from the West, ranging from Rumi to St. Francis of Assisi, from Hafiz and Kabir to St. Teresa of Avila and St. Catherine of Sienna, from Meister Eckhart and John of the Cross to Mira and Rabia.
