Shiva lingam, polished stones from the Narmada river, which flows through the states of Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat in India, westward into the Arabian Sea. This is one of the seven sacred rivers of India and according to Hindu mythology, it was formed from the sweat of Shiva as he danced his cosmic dance. The stones are tumbled roughly into these shapes and are then refined and polished.These lingam, of which no two are alike, represent the Hindu deity, Lord Shiva.
